with Carpinteria Cares for Youth in our efforts to significantly
enhance and expand the services and opportunities that are available to
youth in the Carpinteria Valley. I look forward to continuing
to work with the diverse coalition that Carp Cares has put together to
ensure that the young people of Carpinteria have access to the resources
and support systems which are essential during these formative
years of their lives." Salud Carbajal, First District Supervisor

Who We Are
Carpinteria Cares for
Youth is a grassroots task force in Carpinteria, California, that aims to
support youth and their families through advocacy, education,
collaboration, and information dissemination. Our primary goal is to
facilitate the development of a positive environment for youth in
Carpinteria. We seek to establish this by identifying needs and
facilitating program development and mental health resources in
Carpinteria.
As part of our brainstorming meetings in the summer and fall of 2005, we
discovered that Carpinteria had no government supported or funded mental health
services available, no walk-in or on-site mental health clinic, no ongoing
support services for youth, limited or non-existent mental health resources
available for families in our community, and few safe places for young people to
hang out.
Get Involved!
Make Carpinteria Cares for Youth a vital, proactive
group of individuals and local organizations by volunteering your time and
expertise to an action committee. Our committees consist of concerned
citizens, parents, educators, representatives of the faith based community,
school administrators, and service agency providers. We currently have over
125 members and over 25 agencies that we collaborate with. Sign-up
on for emails below.
